Carbon Neutral
The Marin County Triathlon offset all travel to and from the event with Carbon Offsets from 3 Degrees...
We have purchased enough emission reductions to prevent the emission of 75 metric tons of greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere. This purchase supports the Van Eck Forest Project in Humboldt County, which is independently verified to demonstrate additionality and permanence.
This is equivalent to removing fourteen (14) cars from the U.S. roadways for one year!
We are trying for Zero Waste, Carbon Neutral.Besides Marin County Triathlon medals made from recycled materials presented to every athlete, the award for the overall first place finisher is this one of a kind sculpture made from what once was a bicycle, a running shoe and a wetsuit.
The California Club Cup Trophy is a unique piece of art made from recycled swim, bike and run gear.
This unusual award goes to the club or team to hold onto until the 2009 event.
The club or team with the most attendance either participating or volunteering, results and fundraising for our three beneficiaries, all percentage wise according to the team's membership, will have this to display for a full year!
In our efforts to make the world a better place to live now, and for the future, we have implemented steps to reduce the environmental impact in the presentation of our event.
